Suzhou Market Street
苏州街
The street refers to the shopping area built along Suzhou River (or Rear Lake) in the style of the waterscape of southern China. In the time of Garden of Clear Ripples the riverbanks were lined up with shops of jades and antiques, silk, cakes, tea, and jewelry.
苏州街指的是建在苏州河(或后湖)的仿江南水乡风格的购物区。清漪园时期岸上有各式店铺，如玉器古玩店、绸缎店、点心铺、茶楼、金银首饰楼等。
When the emperor and empress or other imperial nobles came to visit, the street would begint its business, with eunuchs and palace maids acting as shop assistants and customers to produce a prosperous scene in the street. In 1860 it was burnt off by the foreign powers,and the present street is the restoration in 1986.
当皇帝和皇后或其他皇亲贵族游幸时开始“营业”,街道将被包围的业务,太监和宫女作为店员和顾客，制造出一种街上的繁荣景象。在1860年被外国军队焚毁,现在的街道为1986年重修。
