The Drum Tower
西安鼓楼
Situated on the northern side of the western street of Xi'an, the Drum tower was first built in 1380 in the reign of Emperor Ming Hongwu. It was later rebuilt in 1699 by Emperor Qing Kangxi and again in 1740 by Emperor Qing Qianlong Era. The tower is 33 meters high and 52. 6 meters wide, covering more than 1970 square meters. It has two storeys with double eaves and Xieshan roof. The Drum Tower is of abundant vitality and of grandiosity. Made of and covered by only one piece of high quality ox hide, the big drum is 1. 80 meters high and 2.83 meters in diameter with the total weights of 1.5 tons.
鼓楼位于西安街的西北部,始建于1380年明洪武皇帝在位的时候。后来清康熙帝在1699年和清乾隆在1699年分别重建。鼓楼高33米,宽52.6米,占地1970多平方米。它有两层双檐和歇山屋顶。鼓楼富有生命力、雄伟宏大。最大的鼓是高l.80米,直径2.83米总计有1.5吨，系用整张优质牛皮蒙制而成。
