一．可数名词[C]：
1．一般名词复数是在名词后面加上“s”，如map→maps， bag→bags，book-books等；
2．以s，x， sh， ch结尾的词加“es”，如bus→buses， watch→watches, box-boxes等；
3．以f或fe结尾的词，变f或fe为v，再加es，其名词有： half→halves knife→knives leaf→leaves wolf→wolves wife→wives life→lives thief→thieves
4．以o 结尾的名词变复数,现阶段只有Negro、hero、tomato、potato、mango、volcano加es，其余加s
a）加s的名词有（无生命）：photo→photos ，piano→pianos， radio→radios
b）加es的名词有（有生命）： potato→potatoes tomato→tomatoes，hero、mango、volcano
5．以辅音字母＋y结尾的词，变y为i再加es，如baby→babies, family-families, study-studies等；
以元音字母＋y结尾的词，直接加s，如monkey→monkeys， holiday→holidays， storey→storeys（楼层）；
6. oo变ee的特殊单词：foot-feet, goose-geese, tooth-teeth；
7. a变e的特殊单词： man-men, woman-women, policeman-policemen;
8. 复数与原形一致的，即：单复同形的有Chinese（中国人）Japanese（日本人）、fish（鱼）,deer（鹿）,sheep（绵羊）。fish-fish, sheep-sheep, deer-deer, Chinese-Chinese, Japanese-Japanese;
注：1.fish指“鱼肉”时，是不可数名词；2.fish指“鱼的多少”时，是可数名词，但单数和复数同行；There are many fish in the river。3.fish强调鱼的“种类“时，复数是“fishes”。There are many kinds of fishes in the river。
9. 有些名词以-s结尾，但表达的是单数意义，例如：news，maths，politics，physics，the United States等。
10. 以复数形式出现的名词
1) 一些成双成对的名词通常只有复数形式,常见的有jeans (牛仔裤)、headphones (耳机)、trousers (裤子)、clothes (衣服)、pants (短裤)、glasses (眼镜)、shoes (鞋子)、sunglasses (太阳镜)、scissors (剪刀)、compasses (圆规)、scales（天平）、works（工厂）,means（手段），这些名词可单独作主语,其后动词用复数形式,也可用...pair/pairs of修饰,作主语时动词取决于pair的形式.
2)一些食物名词只有复数形式,常见的有noodles, vegetables, snacks.
3) 一些固定短语中的名词只有复数形式,常见有的express one's thanks to sb. (向某人表达感激之情), a letter of thanks (一封感谢信), in high/low spirits (情绪高涨/低落), have sports (进行体育活动).
4) 一些不可数名词只有复数形式,但却表示单数概念,常见的有news (消息), means (手段).
As we all know, no news is good news. 众所周知,没有消息就是好消息.
5) 一些专有名词只有复数形式,但却表示单数概念,常见的有：the United States (美国)、the United Nations (联合国)、the United Kingdoms (英国)、the Arabian Nights (《一千零一夜》).
11. 名词作定语时，不用复数形式，如：a shoe shop。如果要表示复数，则去掉不定冠词，把名词词组中的最后一个名词变成复数形式，如：an apple tree---apple trees（放在名词前面修饰这个名词的词，叫定语，有些也可以放在后面）
例外：man，woman作定语时，如果后面的名词是复数，则man，woman也要跟着变复数。
如：a woman teacher----three women teachers
二、不可数名词[u]：
food（食物）, meat（肉）, fish（鱼）, chicken（鸡肉）, beef（牛肉）, drink（饮料）, milk（牛奶）, water（水）, homework（家庭作业）, news（新闻）, information（信息）, fun（乐趣）, work（工作）, Chinese（汉语）,Japanese（日语）、English（英语）, music（音乐）…和所有的肉食、液体、粘稠物、细小颗粒物等都是不可数名词[u]。
三．名词所有格：
（一）表示有生命的名词所有格
1. 在单数名词后加’s，如：the teacher’ s office
2. 以-s结尾的复数名词后加“’” 如：the teachers’ s office
3. 不以-s结尾的名词复数后加“’s”，如：the Children’s Palace
4. 用and连接两个并列的单数名词表示共有时，只需在后一个并列名词词尾加“’s”；如果不是，则需在各个并列名词后分别加“’s”。如：
John and Mary’ s house（约翰和玛丽的家）,
John’ s and Mary’ s house（约翰的家和玛丽的家）
（二）表示无生命的名词所有格
一般用“of +名词”表示，如：the capital of China
（三）双重所有格：将’s与of 结合一起使用构成双重所有格，
例如：a friend of my father’s 我父亲的一位朋友 a photo of mine 我的一张照片
